Editor's Note
I first heard about the Women’s Guide to the University of Chicago when I was cleaning out the ORCSA office. After finding out more about what the guide used to be about, I decided that I wanted to bring back the publication and RSO for my last year at the University of Chicago. I hope women on campus will benefit from this publication and our
website. I also hope this guide will be a helpful compilation of information and resources available to women at the University of Chicago.
The Women’s Guide website and publication would not be possible without the help of a core group of women that made up the Women’s Guide administrative group. I owe much of my thanks to my Co-Editor, Raedy Ping, who did so much work for this publication, especially while I was studying abroad in India. I also owe thanks to Krysta Bavlsik for creating an incredible website to represent our RSO. Finally, all of our artistic direction was done by Lindsey Neilsen, who also designed the awesome cover of this guide.
The information in this guide and on our website could not have come together without the hardworking chapter heads: Krysta Bavlsik, Margaret
Grawbowski, Ruby Hasnie, Katie Heupel, Heather Kafra, Jessica Lent, Erin
Moore, Keeley Mui, Susan Pei, Raedy Ping, Lisa Reyes, Heidi Schubmehl,
Angie Scarlett, Wen Shen. Jamie Smith, Nissa Thompson, and Hana Yoo.
The Women’s Guide could not be completed without the help of our RSO
Advisor, Diana Doty, who helped us through every step. Because Diana
was so invested in this project, the Women’s Guide would not be what it is today without her dedication. I would also like to thank the ORCSA staff in general, especially Sharlene Holly, Arthur Lundberg, and Guadalupe Nieves.
This guide could also not have been completed without the advice, fact checking and general support of many staff members at the University. We received help and advice from Susan Art, Tamsen Burke, Kelley Carameli, Diana Doty, Kathy Forde, Sue French, Sharlene Holly, Tom Kramer, John Laserman, Bill Michel, Sarah Van Orman, Rosalie Resch, Resources for Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP), Jocathy Roberts, Ana Vasquez, Belinda Cortez Vasquez, and Sheila Yarborough.
Finally, this guide would also not be possible without generous funding from the Student Government.
Once again, a HUGE thanks to everybody who helped this project materialize!
